Who are we?
We are a voluntary organisation formed in 1990
as an extension of the Dorset Wildlife Trust to deal with an increasing
number of badger-related problems. Today the Badger Group is no
longer an extension of Dorset Wildlife Trust but a separate organisation
affiliated to the Trust. We are also affiliated to the Badger Trust.

Membership of the Badger Group is a good
way of learning more about badgers, helping them in practical
ways and joining others on badger watches. We are committed
to the welfare of badgers. |
 |
We survey and monitor setts. |
 |
We rescue and organise the rehabilitation
of injured or sick badgers and their subsequent return to the
wild. |
 |
We collect details of road casualties
to identify “Blackspots”. |
 |
We offer advice viz. badgers digging up
gardens or excavating under buildings etc. |
 |
We do fundraising and have information/awareness
stands at different events and open days around Dorset. |
 |
We make planning authorities and developers
aware when an environmental survey is required and try to make
sure that badger setts near developments are protected and that
the badgers still have a wildlife corridor giving access to
foraging, water and food sources during and after the development. |
 |
We give talks to schools and groups. |
 |
We enjoy watching badgers. |

you can help the Badger Group.
